I have been trying for the last while to develop a love for “alt latino” music, I’ve heard some cool stuff on films and things but up until now I have failed finding myself distracted with my various Swedish ladies mostly. But finally thanks to NPR’s All songs Considered Podcast, I stumbled on their blog called, funny enough, Alt Latino. I found some awesome stuff on there including this little lady Ana Fernández-Villaverde who goes by the name La Bien Querida.
It’s fun and playful and her songs break all over the place. The fact that she’s also quite pretty I guess is just a bonus. And yes, I do not speak Spanish but I think that’s probably why I like it, it’s the same feeling I get listening to Sigur Ros. Words don’t matter if you’re talented enough you get the feeling of the song across without the listener having to understand a word of it.
But for those who like to know what they are listening to, according to NPR (who do speak Spanish), the song is about a woman who contemplates the meaning of death and mourns the death of her lover, when suddenly she sees him as a ghost.
"Today, seeing you again, I’ve decided to love you again." Who couldn’t love that?
